THE JUMPIN' SOFA
A Venetian noblewoman wearing Miyake at sunset
From the calm Adriatic Sea towards the Julian Alps
A sofa stands next to her
A sofa that jumps
Where have you ever seen a jumping sofa?
It has never been seen before, because The Jumpin’ Sofa is a unique sofa.
It is a sofa in motion
Representation of an inner intimate and profound movement
It is a vessel in the stormy waters of life, sailing towards the borders of Europe, towards the Eastern Roman Empire, lost between Gemistus Plethon and Richard Wagner
Scattered fragments resound in the ear
Sturm und Drang
Uccidiamo il chiaro di luna!
Construction Techniques
The Jumpin’ Sofa is made entirely of solid oak wood with a structure of spars and ribs, like wooden boats. The external cladding is made with high-quality red fir wood from Val di Fiemme, polished with shellac and beeswax, like Stradivari’s violins.
The seat and backrest are upholstered in a precious cardinal red silk velvet, finished with a capitonné quilt, they rest on a typical upholstery made with belts and jute canvas, iron springs, wadding and vegetable fibre.
