BORN IN FLAMES
Psycho-Active Chair
Wrought iron is the primordial material used by humankind throughout civilisation.
In the mid 1980’s, the conscious choice of this material was a way to challenge
the ephemeral materials of the post-modern culture.

Giovanni Tommaso Garattoni

The iron rod represents a citation/negation of the first tubular
steel furnitures created by Bauhaus.
Born in Flames’ sleek shape is intended as anticipation of Bolidismo
and at the same time can be considered a tribute to Carlo Mollino’s
Neo-Liberty style and Art Nouveau’s Coup de Fouet.
The slender walnut and rosewood seat,
the tilting backrest held together by hemp ropes and springs.
This is a reminder of the rudimentary experiments of the twentieth century.
